Brand Strategy, Brand Identity – these are buzzwords, right? In a sense, yes. It’s very easy to throw those terms around and not fully understand what they mean. So I’m here to help clarify.

Consumers have endless choices for just about everything these days. This means that a strong brand identity is not just a luxury — it’s a necessity. But what exactly is brand identity, and how can it drive sales?

Despite the title of this post, brand design and web design should not be viewed as adversaries. Nor should they be pitted against each other in some kind of “design war.” Brand Design and Web Design go hand in hand and they can really elevate each other.

If you’re just getting started with your business, investing in a full brand design may not be the best move. But, say you’re all in on your business and you’re ready to start seeing some serious growth. Then a strategic brand identity could be extremely beneficial.

You know that phrase, “don’t judge a book by its cover”? And how it’s a metaphor for not judging a person based on their looks. I definitely agree with the message and intent of not judging people. However, I do absolutely judge actual books by their covers.

Think about your business. What do you want people to say about it in five, ten, even fifty years? What’s the legacy you want to leave behind to be associated with your brand? The word “legacy” has such a… larger-than-life connotation to it, but your legacy doesn’t have to be huge.
